Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS)

A collaboration with US-based NGO Give2Asia, and one of their local partners, Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS). This film takes place in the Sundarbans, Bangladesh; the world’s largest mangrove forest and UNESCO natural world heritage site. However, this area is also particularly vulnerable to landslides, riverbank erosion, and cyclones threatening the lives and livelihoods of its people. Together these two organizations work to build climate resiliency by building a cyclone shelter, conducting disaster preparedness education, and replanting mangroves. I spent a few days in the village of Mathurapur to capture their way of living and the impact of the various disaster preparedness activities.
