Guiuan Development Foundation, Inc (GDFI)

A collaboration with US-based NGO Give2Asia, and one of their local partners, the Guiuan Development Foundation, Inc (GDFI). The two have paired to build a disaster resilient community on the island of Maliwaliw in Salcedo, Eastern Samar, Philippines. The tiny island was where Typhoon Yolanda (local name Haiyan) made landfall in 2013. Yolanda was the strongest typhoon to make landfall ever recorded, and utterly decimated Maliwaliw and the region. I spent a few days on the island to profile the community and how it has rebuilt post-Yolanda.
